Tuchel send a warning message to Chelsea new signing Saul Niguez after awful display in villa game

Tuchel: ‘I feel Saul struggled, there were big mistakes’

Saul Niguez started his first game for Chelsea against Aston Villa, getting thrown right into a Premier League fixture at the first time of asking.

The midfielder was visibly poor and was hooked before the second half by Thomas Tuchel, who explained what went wrong after the game.

Tuchel told Sky Sports: “I had the feeling that he struggled. There were some big mistakes, passing mistakes, and he struggled with the intensity.

“You could see he isn’t fully adapted. It’s completely my responsibility. I had the feeling he could jump in for us and play at that level.

“I thought it was maybe better to change him, but it doesn’t change anything.”

Obviously, one half of football isn’t nearly enough to be able to judge a player, so the Blues will be hoping the former Atletico man is ready to bounce back really soon.
