Chelsea News: Blues and arsenal to rival for Benrahma, proposal approved.
Arsenal ‘join Chelsea in pursuit of Brentford forward Said Benrahma’
Arsenal have reportedly joined Premier League rivals Chelsea in showing an interest in Brentford forward Said Benrahma.
The Algeria international has a combined 17 goals and assists in the Championship this season, leading to talk that he could be on his way to the English top flight.
Chelsea are believed to be leading the way for Benrahma’s signature, having supposedly already opened initial discussions with his representatives.
Chelsea Proposal Approved
Chelsea’s proposal to increase the maximum amount of substitutes on the bench from seven to nine was also approved.
Following last week’s agreement to return on June 17, this week’s meetings are set to thrash out more detailed plans.
A Premier League statement said: “For the rest of 2019/20 up to five substitutions to be allowed in a match and team benches will increase to nine players
“Premier League shareholders today agreed to temporary changes to the rules relating to substitute players.
“For the remainder of the 2019/20 season, the number of substitutes that can be used during a match will increase from three to five players.
“This is in line with the temporary law amendment made by the International Football Association Board last month.
“Shareholders also approved for clubs to increase the maximum number of substitute players on the bench from seven to nine for the rest of the 2019/20 season.”
