Willian undergoes Arsenal medical ahead of his proposed summer switch to the red side
Willian has reportedly completed his medical with Arsenal ahead of his proposed summer switch to the red side of London.
The former Chelsea man confirmed on Sunday that he would be departing Stamford Bridge after a seven-year spell at the club, where he amassed 63 goals from 339 appearances across all competitions.
Willian has since been heavily linked with a move across the capital to Arsenal, and the Brazilian’s move to the Emirates appears to be inching closer ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
According to the Evening Standard, Willian has now undergone his medical with the Gunners and is poised to put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Arsenal.
The signing of Willian would be Mikel Arteta’s first acquisition of the summer, with the Spaniard supposedly keen to undertake a significant overhaul of his squad before his first full season in the Emirates dugout.
Willian’s move to Arsenal will supposedly be completed by the end of the week.
Chelsea to finalize Kai Havertz’s deal as Bayer Leverkusen defeat ‘opens door for further negotiation’
Kai Havertz could soon be on his way to Chelsea after Bayer Leverkusen were knocked out of the Europa League, according to a report.
Havertz bagged his 18th goal of the season against Inter Milan on Monday, but the 21-year-old’s strike was not enough to prevent Leverkusen from bowing out of the Europa League at the quarter-final stage, with earlier goals from Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku proving the difference on the night.
Previous reports had suggested that Havertz would not complete his proposed move to Chelsea until Leverkusen’s campaign drew to a close, and it appears that the protracted transfer saga surrounding the attacker could now reach a conclusion sooner rather than later.
Indeed, the Evening Standard claims that Havertz may have played his final game in a Leverkusen shirt following their elimination from the Europa League.
The report claims that Havertz is desperate to join Chelsea and personal terms should not pose a problem, but Chelsea are yet to agree a fee with Leverkusen for the highly-rated attacker.
The Blues are said to be hopeful of striking a deal for £70m despite Leverkusen’s £90m valuation of Havertz, who has notched up 45 goals in 149 appearances across all competitions for the German outfit.
Chelsea and Barcelona set to battle for Ajax left-back, Nicolas Tagliafico
Chelsea will reportedly have to fend off interest from Barcelona to secure the signature of Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.
With Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri both facing uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge, the Blues have been tipped to bring in a new left-back during the summer transfer window.
Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell is said to be Frank Lampard’s primary target, while Chelsea are also rumoured to be keeping tabs on the future of Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon.
Tagliafico has been linked with a switch to the blue side of London in the past, and according to Sky Sports News, Chelsea are firmly interested in the Ajax defender.
The Blues have already acquired Hakim Ziyech from Ajax ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, but the report claims that Barcelona have also been keeping a close eye on Tagliafico as of late.
Fellow La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are also said to be monitoring the situation.
