Chelsea eye Lucas Digne as Ben Chilwell alternative
Everton defender Lucas Digne has reportedly been identified as a potential transfer target by Chelsea and Manchester City.
Frank Lampard is widely acknowledged to be keen to strengthen his options at left-back, with Chilwell a long-term target.
Guardiola is struggling with defensive issues of his own, with neither Benjamin Mendy or Oleksandr Zinchenko showing the required level of consistency.
In recent weeks, both clubs have been linked with an approach for Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, who is said to be valued in excess of £70m.
However, given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, it appears that the Premier League giants are prepared to look for a cheaper alternative.
According to ESPN, France international Digne has been placed on their respective shortlists ahead of the next window.
Everton signed Digne for £18million back in 2018 and would reportedly expect a high fee for the France international.
Since moving to Goodison Park for £18m, the 26-year-old has contributed five goals and 12 assists from 70 appearances in all competitions.
With three years left on Digne’s contract, Everton remain in a strong position regarding the former Barcelona man’s future.
Moyes eyes Barkley aim West Ham reunion
West Ham manager David Moyes is eyeing a move for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley, who he worked with during his time at Everton.
The Mirror reports that Moyes, who gave Barkley his professional debut, wants to bring the 26-year-old across London having tried to sign the England international on loan last January.
