Leicester City to keep Chilwell , Pedro agrees Roma deal

Pedro refuses to finish season at Chelsea amid Roma speculation

Chelsea winger Pedro has reportedly told the club that he will not sign a short-term contract extension to see him through to the end of the season.

The 32-year-old’s current contract will expire on June 30 and no agreement has yet been confirmed between the player and the club for the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Athletic reports that Pedro has already agreed a deal to join Serie A side Roma when his Chelsea terms expire, although he and the club still have an option to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of this season, which is scheduled to be around five weeks away.

However, Pedro is reportedly reluctant to risk injury or anything else which could scupper his Roma move and has therefore refused to play for the Blues beyond June 30.

Chelsea face Aston Villa, Manchester City and Leicester City prior to that date, but leaving on June 30 would see Pedro miss at least seven matches.

Roma have reportedly offered Pedro a two-year deal worth £56,000 per week.

Leicester City ‘confident of Ben Chilwell stay amid Chelsea interest’

Leicester City are reportedly confident that they will be able to keep hold of Ben Chilwell this summer, despite reported interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.

Chelsea are understood to have identified the England international as their number one target at left-back, where they are looking for reinforcements due to Frank Lampard’s misgivings over Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.

Man City have also been credited with an interest as they consider bolstering their full-back options to provide extra cover for the injury-prone Benjamin Mendy.

However, Sky Sports News reports that Leicester have no intention of selling Chilwell even if either of his potential suitors table a bid of £50m.

The Foxes do not believe that an alternative would be easy to source, and are also wary of selling below their valuation of the 23-year-old as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Chilwell, who has played 28 times for Leicester this season, still has four years remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium.
