Report: Chelsea agrees Timo Werner deal with 5 years contract, Spurs interested in Zouma

Chelsea have reportedly won the race for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.

The Germany international has been in stunning form for his Bundesliga club during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring 31 times and providing 12 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool were thought to be the favourites for the 24-year-old, who is believed to have a €60m (£54m) release clause in his current deal at the Red Bull Arena.

Chelsea are closing in on a deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and are set to meet his release clause, writes Jack Rosser.

The Blues, who have been tracking Werner’s progress all season and have been looking to add a forward since January, are thought to be close to agreeing a five-year-deal worth £200,000-a-week with the 24-year-old German international.

Werner has a release clause of £53million that expires on June 15, a week on Monday.

However, according to Bild, the striker has now agreed a five-year contract with Chelsea worth £9m a year.

The report claims that Werner decided in March that he wanted to leave Leipzig this summer and after the interest from Liverpool cooled, Frank Lampard’s side made their move.

Manchester United have also been linked with the German, who has struck 92 times in 154 appearances for his current side since arriving from Stuttgart in 2016.

However, it appears that Chelsea, who are currently fourth in the Premier League table, have won the race for the attacker after agreeing to meet the buy-out figure in his contract.

And in Liverpool’s stalling, Frank Lampard instructed Chelsea to make the move themselves.

Romano states Chelsea have sent a deal directly to Werner’s agents and have warned RB Leipzig they are to match the release clause.

Spurs interested in Zouma

Jose Mourinho want to bring Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma to Tottenham this summer, according to RMC Sport.

The three-time Premier League winner is a fan of the Frenchman after working with him while at Chelsea.
With Jan Vertonghen set for an exit this summer, Mourinho is keen on being reunited with Zouma.

And Chelsea are reportedly open to selling the 25-year-old, although he wouldn’t come cheap with three years still remaining on his contract.
