Report: Chelsea to sell six players for Havertz’deal funding, remain keen on Rice

Chelsea aim to raise Kai Havertz’deal fund by selling six players

Chelsea are reportedly looking to sell six players during this summer’s transfer window in order to fund a big-money move for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz.

The 21-year-old is valued at around £90million.

The speculation linking Havertz with a switch to Stamford Bridge continues to gather pace, with the Germany international said to ‘dream of a move to the Premier League’.

Chelsea have already spent big to land both Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech this summer, but Frank Lampard’s side are thought to be keen to bring the Leverkusen youngster to the club ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Chelsea will be looking forward to selling six players to raise funds for the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.

According to The Express, the Blues will look to raise the required funds by selling Marcos Alonso, Michy Batshuayi, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Kenedy, Danny Drinkwater and Emerson Palmieri this summer.

Alonso, Batshuayi and Emerson have all been involved for the London club this season, but Bakayoko has been on loan with Monaco, while Kenedy and Drinkwater have been on loan at Getafe and Aston Villa respectively.

Emerson Palmieri is also set to be shipped out and has reportedly opened talks over a move to Inter Milan.

Bayern Munich have also been strongly linked with Havertz, but the German champions recently ruled out a summer move for the 21-year-old.

Havertz has been in impressive form for Leverkusen during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring 17 times and contributing nine assists in 43 appearances in all competitions

Lampard still keen on Rice

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard remains keen on West Ham’s Declan Rice – and believes that he has the potential to be the next John Terry, according to The Times.

Lampard wants Rice to play at centre-back for the Blues, but has refused to comment on the speculation until the Premier League season is over.

“Declan Rice is a good player, you’re right, and I’ve known Declan Rice for a long time, as he was in the Chelsea academy, but there’s no talk,” said Lampard last week.
“I keep saying, about every player we’ll be asked about. Until these games and this season is finished, there’s nothing to say.”
